I love taking pictures. But I’m not a photographer. I don’t worry about aperture, lighting, or exposure values. Or maybe I do—but not as a goal. Photo-Sketch treats the camera like a sketchbook: a way to observe, record, and reflect. It was one of my first entries into making. I’ve since taken up other forms of sketching, but sometimes, when studio work stalls, I pick up a point-and-shoot, an instant camera, a DSLR, or just my phone, and give myself an assignment. Shadows, jewelry, rabbits, trash, benches. It’s not about good pictures—it’s about noticing again.
