It started with watching friends pose. Snap. Check. Delete. Retake. Something about the moment was never right—never quite enough. I wondered what it would look like if I did that. Not just the pose, but the whole process.
 
Failed Selfie doesn’t settle on a single image. Instead, it presents the outcome as nine outtakes—arranged in a tic-tac-toe grid, all 1:1. Different faces, different tries. Maybe I’m all of them. Maybe I’m none. Together, they form a self-portrait, but not the kind that usually circulates on social media. I posted these to Facebook—back when that was still a thing. It was as much about the distribution channel as the image itself. A selfie, maybe. But failed, on purpose.
